Armando Anthony Severo, 85, of Fairfax, Virginia passed away on August 14, 2020 after suffering a stroke. He was born in Buffalo, New York on June 18, 1935, the son of the late John and Marietta (nee Antonelli) Severo, loving brother to predeceased Norman Severo, Lucia (late William) Schimpf, and Edward Tambascia.

Armando was born to Italian immigrants and graduated from the University of Buffalo with a degree in Mathematics. An avid skier, he spent many happy days on the slopes in the States as well as Europe, and was the president of the Ski Club of Washington DC in 1972-1973. He was also passionate about softball, playing in several leagues throughout his life, and was selected as the MVP for the championship team in his last season with the Glory Days league. He spent much of his life travelling, appreciating food of all types, and took great pride in his family.

Armando is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Roberta Severo, and sons Anthony (Jeanette Wong) Severo and Marc (Kelly) Severo and future granddaughter. An online memorial service will be held for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to American Stroke Association at https://www.stroke.org/.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Dear Roberta, my good friend I haven’t seen forever.  I love you and loved Armando so very much.  So many good ski and BP memories.  Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.  Love, Martha Cole Glenn

  2. I have many good memories, I met Armando at the Ski Club in 1991 and we were both in a ski house at Blue Knob, PA for a few years. There were also a lot of fun moments on ski trips with the club. Unfortunately all my pictures are on slides so can’t share any. My condolences to Roberta, Anthony & Marc.

  3. Like Armando, I am a past president of the Ski Club of Washington. We probably met in the late 60s and participated in many club activities together. He was such a happy guy who offered lots of laughs and always made me and everyone around feel good. I will miss him after over 50 years of friendship.
