Myrtis Gibson was born, Patricia Myrtis Gibson April 19th, 1942 in Macon Georgia to Charles Henry Freeman, Sr. and Addie Lee Bryant Freeman. She was second born of 10 children including Addie DeLoise, Sonjia Jean, Charles Henry the 2nd, Loveine Chapel, Robert Franklin, Jerrold Elinsworth, Gabriel Hines, Rachel Jantzen, and Althea Denise.
At an early age she left Georgia with her family for new opportunities in Queens New York. It was in NY where she eventually met and married Joe Lambert Gibson and they raised one daughter, Michele Marie.
Myrtis was such an outstanding student and hard worker, she earned the trust and support of leaders who encouraged her to complete an education in Nursing. She became a licensed practical nurse and worked in many areas of several hospitals including the intensive care unit caring for patients, their family members, and hospital employees be fore retiring from the New York City Department of Health and Human Services. Although retired, she never stopped taking care of people.
Myrtis loved the Lord, her family, music, and travel. She traveled to southern and eastern Caribbean, Mexico, and Europe and lived in many great American cities.
She leaves behind her daughter Shelly, siblings Bob, Buster, Jerrold, and Jan. As well as beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, close friends, and new friends.
